If you are looking for a treatment for pimples, you might want to try some home remedies before you become too involved with expensive acne medicines. Acne often begins with blackheads, which occur because oil and skin cells are trapped in the pores of the skin.
When air hits these dead cells, they turn black. Inflamed blackheads turn to red pimples. Attempting to remove the blackheads only makes them multiply.

- Apply fresh garlic to pimples and around them. You won’t win any contests for pleasant aroma, but it might dry them up for you.
- Combine milk with ground nutmeg, apply to pimples, and leave on for a couple of hours. Rinse with water.
- Honey is a wonderful treatment for acne problems. Combine it with cinnamon powder and use it before bed, washing it off in the morning. Do this for a couple of weeks, and you’re bound to see some improvement. Some people prefer to wash solution off before bed; if so, apply and leave on for at least 30 minutes and longer if possible.
- Lemon and lime juice are famous for their pimple fighting properties. You may mix either lemon or lime juice with boiled milk (cool before applying to skin) for treatment of cracked skin, blackheads, and pimples (may cause problems with sensitive skin).
Lime juice mixed with rosewater is an effective treatment for pimples if you leave it on the problem areas for 20 or 30 minutes. A paste of lime and roasted and powdered pomegranate skin is a good poultice for boils, blackheads, whiteheads, and other skin problems. - Some reports indicate a low glycemic index diet will help you improve your pimple problem by as much as 50%.
- Raw papaya applied to pimples and blackheads may improve the situation.
- Grated potatoes applied to the skin act as a sponge to absorb those bad bacteria that cause acne problems.
- Rub the inside of the peeling from a banana on the pimples and wash it off in the morning.
- Everyone should know that tomato and cucumber are excellent to apply to pimple problem areas.
- Grind radish seeds and mix with water. Place on the pimples and watch for an improvement.
- Sesame seeds ground and combined with water is another great poultice for pimples.
- A 30-minute soaking of water combined with ground orange peel may help your pimple problem.
- Salt and vinegar may sound like a potato chip flavor, but the combination can work wonders for acne. Don’t put it in open sores.
- Turmeric powder and mint juice applied and allowed to stay on for 30 minutes is known to be helpful.
As a treatment for pimples, at least some of these remedies should provide you with relief. Remember also to wash your face gently twice per day.
